Sludge Life Image: Sludge Life / Devolver Digital The Mary Skelter games have been flagged as fan service-heavy ‘tits and arse’ dungeon crawlers in the past, and it’s likely this ‘fan service’ was what caused the ban hammer to swing.
#POSTAL CLASSIC AND UNCUT SIMULATOR#
Sludge Life is a relatively innocuous graffiti simulator where you run around a 3D world painting walls and meeting strange characters. Unfortunately, it also lets you take drugs - and we know how the Classification Review Board feels about that.

While it’s available on PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam for quite some time, Sludge Life was banned in 2021 when it was ported to Switch. So if you want to play it on that console, you’re out of luck. Luckily it’s still available basically everywhere else, so you should have no drama if you just want to chill and graffiti your way through town on PC. Disco Elysium: The Final Cutĭisco Elysium is a surreal game where drugs are part of the gameplay, narrative and mechanics. And while taking drugs has obvious negative side effects in the game (which would normally render it “okay” by classification standards), the Final Cut re-release of the game was banned in Australia regardless. The issue with this cut of the game over the original cut appeared to be a new ‘speed’ button which highlighted drug use - but it’s likely the game’s whole drug-related system rattled the ratings board. That the original game even made it passed the board in the first place is wild, and this ping was inevitable. Luckily, the decision to ban Final Cut was eventually overturned, and the game was re-rated R18+ earlier this year.
